Artaboyne committee would like to invite young people of secondary age living in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City to take part in an art competition. The winning artwork from each category will be displayed as part of the Artaboyne 2025 exhibition.

Details of the competition are below:

There are two age categories for entering – young people in S1-S3 and young people in S4-S6 at time of entry.

Entrants must live in Aberdeenshire or Aberdeen City.

One winner in each category will have their winning entry framed (if appropriate) and exhibited, but not for sale, in the 2025 Artaboyne exhibition. They will also receive £50 of art vouchers as a prize.

There will be 2 runners up in each category who will get £25 of art vouchers. An image of their work will be displayed at Artaboyne.

Work can be 2D or 3D

Maximum size for 2D work is A3 (297mm x 420mm).

3D sculpture, ceramics and jewellery are also eligible.

Maximum of 2 entries per person.

Artwork should be an original and unique piece of work, completed solely by the entrant.

How to enter
Complete the application form below and attach a photograph of your artwork entry.
Please ensure that the photo of your original art is as good quality as possible, taken in good light and is of the entire piece of art.

Key Dates
The competition is open to any secondary age young person who lives in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City. The closing date is Friday 30th May 2025.

When you submit your entry, you will receive a confirmation email. Please check that you receive this and it does not go to junk. If this email goes to junk, please add it to your inbox to ensure future correspondences from us about the competition do not go to your junk folder.

Winners and runners up will be contacted by email by the end of June 2025.
Please note - by taking part on this competition you are doing so on the understanding that the winning entries will be on display at Artaboyne exhibition but are not for sale.
​
Winners will be required to deliver their artwork to the Victory Hall in Aboyne on the 14th or 15th of July 2025, for inclusion in the exhibition hanging process.

Data statement
Any data gathered such as mobile numbers and addresses will be held only for the length of the competition and will not be shared with any other parties. If there is any proposed press coverage of the winners permission will be sought from winners and their parents before any publicity takes place.
